This work is based on the series At Twelve by Sally Mann. Her work shows young women at the age of twelve in their environment, their home, their chosen place, and their lives. We see them at the edge between childhood and adolescence.

My work shows those at twenty, or more specifically, those born in the year 1989, in their chosen environments. These young men and women are at the beginning of adulthood, but are still considered somewhat adolescent. I wanted to show how they, too, are still young, yet have a kind of age, a kind of experience that is sometimes beyond their years. These are meant to be portraits, to show these people as they are now.

Included are the words of these young people, their views on life, what they are doing, and what they will be doing. This is based on the series Rich and Poor by Jim Goldberg. I want to show more of them than just their external visual, but also the internal, and the possibilities ahead of them.
